AN INTERACTIVE AND DYNAMIC WORKSHOP, IN 3 HIGHLIGHTS
With our workshop, we are providing all Grade 7 to 8 Highschool students with tools to achieve and keep a good mental health.
To guarantee teenagers a rich and pleasant experience, we imagined our workshop in three blocks, each composed of:
- a presentation by our facilitators punctuated by discussions with the students,
- an informative video,
- of a practice activity.
BLOCK 1: BETTER UNDERSTANDING MENTAL HEALTH AND ITS IMPORTANCE
In this 1st part, adolescents are invited to discover:
- What mental health is
- What is the difference between mental health and mental illness
- What conditions well-being and inner balance:
– how brain development in adolescence impacts mental health,
– how to take a break and observe yourself,
– regain your balance when you lose it,
– identify what has already worked in the past.
BLOCK 2: IMPROVE YOUR WELL-BEING BY LIVING IN THE MOMENT
Students learn here:
- Why being in the present moment makes you feel good?
- What is mindfulness?
- How to reduce anxiety and ruminations with attentive presence exercises?
BLOCK 3: LEARN TO BETTER MANAGE SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH MENTALIZATION
Through this part, young people will discover how to:
- Develop a mentalizing attitude to improve their relationships with others,
- Improve their relationships by respecting 3 simple steps:
– take a break,
– observe yourself and others,
– formulate hypothesises.
In conclusion, we show young people the resources in their school and in the community to help them if they need it. Students can also ask questions of the facilitators.
