A permanent team to help raise awareness about teen mental health
First satellite office opens in Quebec City
Fondation Jeunes en Tête (FJET) is proud to announce the deployment of its first permanent team in Quebec City. The team will allow the Foundation to increase its impact and support for young people in the Capitale-Nationale area and throughout Eastern Quebec. Éric Bujold, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, made the announcement at a press conference held on the occasion of the 13th Quebec City Mayor’s Ball, in the presence of the city’s mayor, Bruno Marchand.
“By setting up a permanent team outside Montreal, Fondation Jeunes en Tête will be able to take part in the local community and create a lasting impact in the Capitale-Nationale and Eastern Quebec regions. We’re especially proud of this milestone in our Foundation’s history. A special thanks goes to the business community of the Greater Quebec City area for their generosity over the years through the Mayor’s Ball. Their unwavering support for the cause of teen mental health has given us the means to offer more and more young people hope,” said Mélanie Boucher, President and CEO, Fondation Jeunes en Tête.
A dedicated and experienced team
The new on-site team is made up of a dynamic duo with complementary strengths and expertise. Laurence Labrie and Thy Hang will serve as awareness associates tasked with developing strong local links with community partners and school teams as well as visiting high schools to lead the Foundation’s flagship outreach workshops.
With a background in teaching and juvenile delinquency intervention, Laurence worked for several years at youth centres and high schools. Prevention is her tool, and passion, for making a difference in young people’s lives. | |
Thy, for her part, studied psychology and sexual health. Upon graduating, she worked at the community level prior to making the jump to FJET. She is convinced that constructive dialogue around mental health issues can help destigmatize subjects that are still taboo for teens and adults today. |
“This is an important chapter in the ongoing development of our outreach activities across Quebec. The Foundation’s increased presence in Eastern Quebec will enable us to forge even stronger ties with local communities and be even more agile and in tune with the frontline realities of school teams. We are now positioned to make a bigger difference by bringing our turnkey awareness workshops to more young people,” explained Antoine Beaudoin-Gentes, Program Director, Fondation Jeunes en Tête.
